The incident occurred on Sunday while the tournament was ongoing. According to several online reports, DDG was placed in handcuffs after law enforcement responded to a false emergency call.
Swatting – the act of making a hoax report to police in order to provoke an armed response – has been an ongoing safety concern for online personalities and content creators.
One of the event’s hosts confirmed that DDG was unharmed and released after police determined the arrest was unfounded. Due to the disruption, the remaining players chose to end the tournament early.
At the time of writing, DDG has not made any public comment on the matter.
