Colombian singer Maluma interrupted his concert in Mexico City to address a fan who brought a one-year-old baby to the event without ear protection.
The incident took place on August 8, 2025, at the Palacio de los Deportes during his +Pretty +Dirty World Tour.
Stopping mid-performance, the 31-year-old artist expressed concern for the child’s safety, citing the risks posed by high decibel levels at concerts. “Ma’am, I’m going to tell you something. Don’t bring him here, leave him there. With all due respect, I’m already a father. What’s he? A year old? Do you think it’s a good idea to bring a 1-year-old baby to a concert where the sound is really loud?” Maluma said from the stage.
Maluma stops his concert in Mexico City to scold a mother who brought her 1-year-old baby without ear protection:
“That is an act of irresponsibility. And you’re swinging him around as if he were a toy. That child doesn’t want to be there.” pic.twitter.com/ptxpcuuHzw— Pop Crave (@PopCrave) August 10, 2025
He went on to urge the mother to protect the child’s ears in the future, criticizing her for waving the baby around “like a toy.” Maluma, who shares a 17-month-old daughter with partner Susana Gómez, added that he “would never” bring his own child to a live show under such conditions.
Video of the exchange quickly spread on social media, sparking mixed reactions. Some fans praised the singer for raising awareness about hearing safety at concerts, while others felt the public reprimand was unnecessary and potentially embarrassing for the parent.

If you don't want parental advice, don't bring your infant to a loud ass concert with no ear protection.

Hearing protection at live events has been an ongoing concern among health experts, with prolonged exposure to loud music known to cause permanent hearing damage. The mother’s response to Maluma’s warning and whether she left the venue remains unclear.
