In a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Atlanta rapper JID discussed his thoughts on J. Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar for the 2018 diss track "7 Minute Drill." The apology, which sparked significant debate within hip-hop circles, didn’t faze JID, who emphasized that he respects Cole’s authenticity, regardless of the controversy.

JID explained that while many were quick to scrutinize Cole’s decision to apologize, he feels there’s a need for a more nuanced conversation. “Bro gon’ do what he want to do, and he does that. It's beautiful to watch a n***a live in his truth,” JID said, reflecting on Cole’s actions. While acknowledging that the diss track was surprising, he expressed that ultimately, Cole’s decision was consistent with his brand and personal values. JID also shared his thoughts on the broader implications of Cole’s apology, mentioning the ongoing beefs in the industry, including tensions with Drake. “Who really cares? Cole gon’ do what he got to do, bro,” he concluded.
