Minor among six dead in road crashes
Six people, including a young girl, lost their lives while a father and his two daughters were injured in various traffic accidents across the city on Thursday.
A truck hit a motorcycle in Baldia Town, killing an eight-year-old girl on the spot, while her father and two sisters were injured. The deceased was identified as eight-year-old Eman. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, but the vehicle has been seized. Initial investigation suggests the children were returning home from school with their father.
In another incident, a speeding truck hit a bike, killing the rider on the spot in SITE area. Meanwhile, a 25-year-old biker was killed when struck by an unidentified vehicle in Naseerabad.
Another unidentified vehicle hit two motorcyclists in Manghopir on the Northern Bypass. One, 26-year-old Rafi Bhatti, died, and the other, 22-year-old Abdul Jabbar, was injured. Both were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police are further investigating the incident.
A trailer ran over two young bikers on Mauriapur Road, resulting into death of one person and injury to another. The deceased was identified as Ali Akbar, 24, and 22-year-old Suhail.
In another accident, 17-year-old Talha died in a road accident in the Mochko area. Eyewitnesses reported the deceased was riding a motorcycle at high speed when he lost control.
Additionally, a 40-year-old unidentified man's body was found on a footpath in Orangi Town, while another 35-year-old unidentified man's body was found the New Sabzi Mandi along the Super Highway. Both bodies were shifted to a government hospital and later to the morgue.
