People's train service to connect Sariab, Kuchlak
In a major step toward enhancing public transportation in Balochistan, the provincial government has joined hands with Pakistan Railways to launch the People's Train Service between Sariab and Kuchlak. The project was approved during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta on Thursday.
The initiative aims to provide affordable, safe, and efficient travel options to the residents of Quetta and surrounding areas. Officials confirmed that preliminary consultations and technical assessments have already been completed, and the project is now entering its implementation phase. The train service is expected to become operational within the next six months.
To ensure a swift launch, the Balochistan government will procure engines and coaches directly from Pakistan Railways. This move is designed to streamline implementation and strengthen coordination between provincial and federal institutions.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti also spoke with Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, who assured full cooperation. Abbasi pledged that Pakistan Railways would deliver the necessary engines, coaches, and infrastructure within the committed timeframe
