Eminem made an unexpected appearance at the world premiere of Stans in New York City on Tuesday, August 6, delivering an emotional tribute to his longtime supporters.

The sold-out event, held at Pier 17, featured the debut screening of Stans, a documentary that explores the Grammy-winning rapper’s deep and often complex relationship with his most dedicated fanbase—known as “stans,” a term popularized by his 2000 hit song of the same name.

The Detroit rapper’s surprise entrance was met with cheers from the crowd. Addressing the audience, Eminem acknowledged the profound impact his music has had on fans over the years. “When I was writing this song, I didn’t understand the impact that my music was having on people at the time,” he said. “It was really surreal to me. And it is still surreal to this day to look out here and see all of you.”

He continued, “This film is a thank you to all of you for sticking by me for this whole f###### time—to all my s###, to all my b#######, or my f###### mediocre s###. The good s###, the bad s###, all of it. This film is dedicated to y’all.”

Eminem also engaged with fans in the audience, responding to shouts of admiration and sharing laughs throughout his speech. Following the screening, he joined a panel discussion, offering further insight into the film’s creation and his journey in the music industry.

Directed by Steven Leckart, Stans documents Eminem’s rise from Detroit’s underground rap scene in the 1990s to international superstardom. The film combines dramatic reenactments, archival footage, and interviews to explore how his career has been shaped by and reflected in his most loyal fans.

Stans opened in theaters worldwide on Wednesday, August 7.
