Metallica is set to perform a special live show on Thursday, August 28 at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island. The intimate concert will celebrate the launch of SiriusXM’s new channel, Maximum Metallica, which officially debuts the following day, Friday, August 29, at 12 p.m. ET on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.
The announcement was made by drummer Lars Ulrich during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show on Wednesday. The event marks a rare opportunity to see the iconic band in a small venue, with attendance available through a contest for SiriusXM subscribers and fans. The giveaway, sponsored by Hertz, offers a chance to experience the concert in person.
A recording of the show will premiere on Maximum Metallica on Monday, September 1 at 12 p.m. ET, and will be rebroadcast multiple times throughout the week. Listeners can also stream the performance via the SiriusXM app. Additionally, the full concert will air on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM channel, Howard 101, on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. ET and PT.
Described as “The Most Metallica Anywhere,” the Maximum Metallica channel will feature a wide array of content from the band’s extensive catalog. Programming will include major hits, deep cuts, rare live recordings, and behind-the-scenes stories. Band members will also contribute exclusive interviews and curated surprises for fans.
The new channel will be available for free in all SiriusXM-equipped vehicles throughout the month of September, offering broader access to Metallica's music and legacy for both longtime fans and new listeners. The launch underscores SiriusXM’s continued collaboration with major artists to deliver dedicated, artist-curated content.
