A court has sentenced a man to death and 74 years of imprisonment along with a fine and compensation amounting to Rs9.6 million, after finding him guilty of murdering his five-year-old daughter and injuring his wife, two infant daughters, and stepson.
District and Sessions Judge Abdul Raheem announced the verdict in a case registered at Mansoorabad Police Station against Zeeshan, son of Shaukat, a resident of Malikpur. The court found that Zeeshan had fatally attacked his daughter Anushka and injured his wife Shama Bibi, daughters Saman (aged two) and Huma (three months), and his stepson Talha using scissors during a domestic altercation.
According to the prosecution, Zeeshan was married to Shama Bibi and allegedly became resentful over the repeated birth of daughters.
In a fit of rage, he carried out the brutal assault at home. An FIR was lodged based on a statement from Samiullah, a relative of the family, under Sections 302, 324, 337F1, and 337F of the Pakistan Penal Code.
After the trial, the court convicted Zeeshan of murder and sentenced him to death. The judge also ordered him to pay Rs1 million in compensation to the victim's family. In case of non-payment, he would serve an additional six months in prison.
For the attempted murder of four family members, he was handed four separate prison terms of 10 years each under Section 324, along with a Rs 100,000 fine for each count, or six additional months in jail for each default in payment.
Under Section 337D, he received three prison terms of 10 years each for causing severe injuries. In addition, the court imposed a one-year sentence and Rs 50,000 fine under one count of Section 337F, and a further three-year term with a Rs 70,000 fine under another.
