Three arrested for'gang-raping' woman

Police on Monday arrested three suspects who allegedly gang-raped a woman in the Bakot area of District Abbottabad last week.

Abbottabad District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Tufail ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects after the incident was highlighted on social media, including Facebook and TikTok.

Following the directive, Bakot police conducted a timely operation and arrested all three accused, identified as Ali, Haseeb, and Hamza. A case has been registered against them at Bakot police station under Sections 375A, 376, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.

According to the FIR, police arrested the suspect who owned the house where he and his friends allegedly raped the woman. The FIR added that one of the suspects brought the woman to his friend's house in his car from Rawalpindi, where his friends raped her, one after the other. The homeowner confessed to committing the crime while also identifying his two friends.

DPO Tufail has formed a special investigation team led by SP Muhammad Ishtiaq. The team includes DSP Galyat Imtiaz Khan, DSP Investigation Saeed Yadoon, SHOs of Bakot and Changla Gali, and expert investigators. The DPO instructed the team to conduct a transparent investigation and fulfil all legal requirements to bring the perpetrators to justice.
