NGO chairpersonarrested for alleged child trafficking
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi has arrested the chairperson of a private NGO, identified as Mubeena Qasim Agboatwala, for her alleged involvement in the illegal smuggling of children to the United States under the pretext of adoption.
According to FIA officials, the arrest was made following a formal complaint lodged by the US Consulate. The accused was allegedly running a fraudulent operation where children were unlawfully trafficked abroad in the name of international adoptions.
The FIA confirmed that the suspect had been involved in forging documents and misusing her position to facilitate the transfer of minors out of the country through illegitimate means.
Mubeena was taken into custody after her pre-arrest bail was rejected by the Special Judge Central, Karachi. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the matter to uncover the full extent of the alleged trafficking network.
