DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

A fierce gun battle erupted between militants and the family of tribal elder Malik Ashiq Noor in the Dazha Ghundai area of Lower South Waziristan, leaving multiple people dead, including one of Malik Ashiq's brothers, and several others injured.

According to sources, the violence broke out when Malik Ashiq Noor's brothers were returning home from Wana Bazaar and were intercepted by terrorists who attempted to snatch their rifles. When they resisted, the situation escalated, prompting a call for reinforcements. Malik Ashiq's supporters soon arrived, triggering an intense exchange of fire with militants. Eyewitnesses reported that both small and heavy weapons were used, and gunfire continued for hours, sending waves of fear through the region.

Malik Ashiq's brother Zahid was killed on the spot, while another brother, Mola Noor, was seriously injured and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana. Hospital authorities also confirmed the arrival of two injured women, both now in stable condition.

Reliable sources claim multiple militants were also killed, including a key commander. The attackers reportedly torched several vehicles before fleeing. Local elders and residents have expressed grave concern and extended condolences to the grieving family.
