Pakistan Army, PLA are 'true brothers in arms', says Field Marshall Munir reaffirming bilateral ties

The Pakistan Army and the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China are true brothers in arms, said Field Marshal Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir on Friday addressing a ceramony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi to commemorate PLA's 98th anniversary. 

FM Munir reaffirmed commitment to the enduring partnership between the two countries and its key role in promoting regional stability and safeguarding shared strategic interest. 

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong was the chief guest at the event. Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s tri-services also attended

Welcoming the Chinese guests, FM Munir congratulated the PLA on its founding anniversary and lauded its contribution to China’s defence, security, and nation-building.

He described Pakistan-China ties as “unique, time-tested, and exceptionally resilient” amid evolving global and regional dynamics, and stressed that the strategic partnership between the two countries reflected mutual trust, unwavering support, and shared commitment.

The Chinese ambassador thanked the COAS for hosting the commemoration and acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in counterterrorism efforts. He reiterated China’s continued support for its strategic partnership with Pakistan.
