RAWALPINDI:

Three people lost their lives, while five others sustained injuries in three separate road accidents in the city on Thursday, rescuers and police said.

A Mazda truck loaded with cement overturned near Mujahid Village on Chakri Road, a suburban area of Rawalpindi, leaving two people trapped under the vehicle and the cement load.

Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and managed to retrieve the victims from under the truck. However, both were pronounced dead and later shifted to a hospital for legal formality. Rescue 1122 officials said that the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
