Country music star Brad Paisley gave fans an unforgettable show during a recent performance in Bridgeport, Connecticut, when he turned a portion of his concert into a humorous and heartfelt tribute to law enforcement.
The playful moment began when Paisley invited local police officers onstage, joking to the crowd, “They are the ones who said this is a speed trap, not me.” He then handed each officer a guitar pick with a smile, quipping, “It’s not a bribe,” before launching into his song “Mr. Policeman.”
As Paisley performed the tongue-in-cheek lyrics—“I’m in the jailhouse now… They told me once or twice / Son, respect my authority”—fans caught on to the comedic bit, cheering and laughing. The staged moment, captured by concertgoers on TikTok and Facebook, quickly went viral. One TikTok caption humorously noted that Paisley was “let off with a warning after he reportedly bribed the officers with free guitar picks.”
Bridgeport Police later confirmed the event was a pre-planned sketch. In a Facebook post, the department wrote, “Being invited on stage was something our officers will never forget... Thank you for standing with law enforcement and showing that support in such a meaningful way.” The officers had earlier escorted Paisley from Oxford Airport to the venue.
Paisley also repeated a similar tribute during his performance in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he brought local officers onstage at the Live Oak Bank Pavilion on July 24. “Our officers work to keep you safe every day, including at entertainment events like this!” the Wilmington Police Department shared on Facebook.
The light-hearted tribute earned praise from fans and police alike, with one attendee commenting, “The place went wild… Can’t get much better than that.”
