Demi Lovato announces new single 'Fast' after weeks of teasing comeback

Demi Lovato is officially returning to pop music, with a new single titled “Fast” set to drop this Friday, August 1. The announcement, shared via Instagram on July 28, marks the singer’s first major step back into dance-pop territory after several years exploring other genres.

Lovato teased the release by posting images from what appears to be a music video shoot, captioned, “me when i serve my favorite dish… FAST OUT FRIDAY 8.1.” On their Instagram Story, the singer added, “a new era has arrived,” and quoted lyrics from their 2011 hit “Hold Up,” writing, “i know i shouldn’t have kept you waiting … but i’m here now.”

Fans have already heard brief previews of the track through social media snippets. Set to a high-energy EDM beat, “Fast” features lyrics like “I wanna go fast/ I wanna go hard/ I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are,” reflecting the track’s infectious, summery vibe.

“This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music,” Zhone told Rolling Stone, suggesting that the upcoming record will be a bold, energetic celebration of Lovato’s pop sensibilities.
