UAE grants visa exemption to Pakistan officials

A similar reciprocal facility for UAE citizens also implemented at all Pakistani airports

ISLAMABAD:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted visa exemption for Pakistani diplomatic and official passport holders.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar made the announcement on X on Sunday, stating that the agreement was reached during his meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on June 24 in Abu Dhabi.

Dar, who also serves as the country's foreign minister, said that during the meeting, both brotherly countries agreed on mutual visa exemption for diplomatic and official passports.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to make this agreement effective and enforceable. It was agreed that the visa exemption would come into effect 30 days after the MoU signing.

"[I] am pleased to confirm that I have been informed by the UAE authorities that the visa waiver for diplomatic and official Pakistani passports entering the UAE has been activated, effective July 25, 2025, at all UAE airports."

He further announced that a similar reciprocal facility for UAE citizens has also been implemented at all Pakistani airports.

According to Dar, during his meeting with the UAE foreign minister both sides agreed mutual visa waivers on diplomatic and official passports. "We both signed an MoU to make this arrangement effective and operative after 30 days of the signing of the said MoU," he said.

Earlier this month, UAE's Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan assured "full support" in expediting visas for Pakistani citizens. Al Nahyan's statement came during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart—Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
