Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested a man impersonating a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer, who used official-looking gear and fake credentials to harass citizens and build a false image of authority on social media.

A police spokesperson said on Sunday that the suspect, driving a black Toyota Corolla (registration BF-2421), was stopped near Khanna Bridge on the Islamabad Expressway during routine patrolling by ASI Muhammad Ramzan of the Traffic Police. During questioning, the man falsely claimed to be a CTD inspector and threatened the officers with dire consequences.

Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered a fake CTD uniform, a blue revolving light (siren), an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a USB, and other items used to impersonate law enforcement officials. Examination of the suspect’s mobile phone revealed multiple TikTok and social media videos portraying himself as a CTD officer conducting raids.

Investigations found that the suspect had no connection with any law enforcement agency and was using his false identity to intimidate citizens, create fear, and gain online popularity by forming a fake gang image.

Lohi Bher SHO Fawad Khalid led the swift operation, registering a case under sections 170 and 171 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), along with relevant provisions related to impersonation and misuse of official equipment.

Police warned that misuse of uniforms and impersonation of state institutions are serious crimes and will be dealt with strictly.
