PTI finalises protest plan

Raja has stated in several meetings that he is "not protest material"

ISLAMABAD:

The PTI has finalized a comprehensive plan for its expected protest movement on August 5 amid a widening rift in the party.

According to sources, the party's central leadership has issued fresh instructions to all provincial leaders and organizational units to ensure a strong turnout for the protest on August 5. It has been decided that every ticket-holder will lead a protest demonstration in their respective constituency and hold a rally.

However, reports from within the party suggest that several leaders have expressed a lack of confidence in Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. Sources claim that Raja has stated in several meetings that he is "not protest material", leading to dissatisfaction among some party members regarding his role.

An important meeting of the party's political committee is expected today (Saturday), but no venue has been finalized for it yet. Sources said Raja has already departed for Sindh, allegedly disregarding the significance of the political committee, which may deepen the internal divisions within the party. Moreover, following the convictions related to the events of May 9, several senior leaders remain absent from the public scene, affecting the party's organizational activities.

Earlier, on Thursday, a statement of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan appeared in the media in which he ordered every member of his party to immediately set aside all internal differences and focus solely on the party's August 5 protest movement, "for which no meaningful momentum is being built at present".
