Minors exposed to drugs, driven to robberies

Teenage gang busted for manipulating underage individuals

KARACHI:

Minors in the city are being exposed to drugs, subsequently engaging in criminal activities under the influence of these substances, according to recent reports.

Sachal police apprehended the ringleader of a teenage gang, Ghulam Muhammad Ali, who allegedly manipulated minors by getting them addicted to hashish and ice (crystal methamphetamine) in order to exploit them for robberies. Three of his accomplices, Rizwan, Azhar, and Yaseen, were also arrested.

The arrests, made during an operation near Ghazi Goth Scheme 33, shed light on a nexus between drug abuse and juvenile crime. Authorities seized a pistol with ammunition, hashish, mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle. SHO Sachal said that Ghulam Muhammad would deliberately addict underage individuals to drugs before compelling them to commit robberies. A case was registered against the suspects under the Sindh Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
