Zac Brown has shocked fans with an unexpected engagement to jewellery mogul Kendra Scott, and the internet isn’t quite sure what to make of it. The country music frontman, 46, and the designer, 51, revealed they’re engaged on July 24, just months after debuting their romance at the 2025 American Music Awards.

Their statement was simple, “We are so happy and grateful that we found each other,” but the response online was anything but. Photos of Scott’s massive pink diamond ring sparked immediate chatter, but it was the speed and surprise of the announcement that truly had fans spinning.

Social media lit up within minutes. One stunned follower wrote, “What in the chicken fried just happened?” a wink to Brown’s most famous track. Another quipped, “Didn’t he just sue his ex?”

That ex would be model Kelly Yazdi, whom Brown married and separated from in 2023. Their split turned messy, culminating in a 2024 defamation lawsuit filed by Brown. Meanwhile, Scott brings her own layered past, three previous marriages and three children with two ex-husbands.

Despite the complex relationship timelines, the couple appears unfazed. The engagement comes just as the Zac Brown Band kicks off a major residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, running through January 2026.

Many fans were caught off guard not only by the sudden proposal, but by the pairing itself. The two met through mutual friends and kept their relationship quiet until their red carpet “hard launch” in May.

Now, with matching smiles and a headline-making rock, they’re stepping into the spotlight as a couple and not everyone saw it coming. Whether this next chapter is a fairytale or a firestorm remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: no one expected this.
