Steph Curry has shared that he grew tired of hearing Drake’s Not Like Us repeatedly, partly due to his friendship with the artist, during a new interview with Complex.
Curry discussed his longstanding connection with Drake, saying, “We go way back though and it’s actually kind of a family thing too. One of Ayesha’s cousins is from Toronto and the whole deal. So, we’re all in the same boat.”
Reflecting on a viral clip from last summer showing him commenting on Not Like Us while with USA Basketball, Curry said, “Oh, it was both. Everywhere we went, it was all I heard. And, the fact that they know who I was with. You can’t do nothing about what the DJ’s playing. But I was like, I got sick of it at a certain point. It’s funny the cameras caught me because that was from the soul.”
In the video, Curry was heard saying, “Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America,” as the track played. LeBron James, his teammate, responded with, “I love it.”
Fans on social media referenced Drake’s ongoing dispute with LeBron James in the comments on Complex’s post about the interview, with some users writing, “Steph’s loyal unlike LeBron.”
Drake has previously expressed discontent with LeBron James’ support for Kendrick Lamar during the ongoing music dispute, referencing him in songs including What Did I Miss? and Fighting Irish Freestyle.
