KU opens Freeze-Dried Food Lab to boost industry ties, innovation in food preservation

KARACHI:

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Karachi (KU), Dr Khalid Iraqi, inaugurated the Ice Breaker Foundation Industrial Research Lab at the KU's Department of Food Science and Technology (DFS&T).

The laboratory is a Freeze-Dried Food Prototype (Freeze Dryer) which will help naturally preserve food items for long durations. The VC mentioned that this a major step toward academic-industry collaboration and noted that the DFS&T has successfully engaged many top industries in its activities and research projects. He emphasised that universities must connect with society and industry to remain relevant in today's rapidly evolving economic landscape.
