After more than three decades on air, E! News has been canceled once again.
The iconic entertainment newscast will end its run on September 25, 2025, as the E! network shifts its focus toward digital and social media platforms.
The cancellation comes three years after E! News was revived following a two-year hiatus. Originally a daytime show, the program returned in 2022 as a late-night broadcast, airing at 11 p.m. The decision to cancel the show reportedly comes from E! executives who believe the late-night format no longer aligns with modern audience demands for real-time digital content.
A source from the network cited the brand’s strong digital presence—with 87 million followers across platforms—as a key factor in the pivot. The E! network is currently transitioning as it spins off from NBCUniversal and merges into a new publicly traded company called Versant, formerly known as SpinCo.
Employees of E! News were informed of the cancellation on Thursday. Around 20 staff members were affected, though some correspondents may transition to roles within Versant in yet-unknown capacities.
Despite the cancellation, E! will continue to produce original series such as Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind and Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour. The network also plans to maintain a red carpet presence with Live From E! and will air the Critics Choice Awards on January 4.
The end of E! News marks a significant shift in celebrity news broadcasting, as legacy programs give way to fast-paced digital formats.
