Post Malone has scored a major legal victory in his ongoing custody battle, as his ex-girlfriend has withdrawn her California case seeking primary custody of their three-year-old daughter. Hee Sung ‘Jamie’ Park had filed a petition in Los Angeles, aiming to relocate the child from Utah, where the girl has lived since birth, to California, where Park currently resides.

The rapper, whose real name is Austin Post, had fiercely contested the move. In May, he filed a motion calling Park’s California petition a strategic ploy, accusing her of concealing the child’s true residence from the court. “I do intend to work cooperatively with Jamie to ensure that DDP has frequent and equal custodial time with her mother,” Post wrote. “However, I do not consent to Jamie’s back door attempt to change DDP’s residence from Utah to California.”

Park dropped her petition on July 21 and did so ‘with prejudice’, a legal move meaning she cannot refile it. The decision effectively shuts down any immediate efforts to relocate the child and ensures that the custody case remains in Utah, where records are sealed.

This development tilts the scales in Post’s favour. Since April, the former couple have been embroiled in a jurisdictional tug-of-war, each filing cases in different states. By eliminating the California action, Park has effectively conceded that Utah will be the primary battleground for any future custody negotiations.

Neither party’s representatives have issued public statements following the dismissal. Online, reactions have been mixed. Some fans applaud Post for wanting to keep his daughter’s life stable, while others speculate about what triggered Park’s sudden retreat.

Though the custody battle is far from over, Park’s withdrawal marks a clear turning point and for now, Post Malone has the legal upper hand.
