Elden Ring: Nightreign was the best-selling game in the United States in June 2025, outselling Nintendo’s major Switch 2 launch title, Mario Kart World, according to Circana data.
Nightreign, a $40 standalone multiplayer spinoff of FromSoftware’s open-world RPG, launched at the end of May. The game achieved two million units sold on its first day and over 3.5 million within five days.
Reviews were strong, with Steam ratings moving to “Very Positive” shortly after launch, and the game maintained its full-game pricing structure.
In comparison, Mario Kart World, which launched alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, came in third for June’s best-selling games in the US. The Switch 2 debuted at $450, or $499 with a Mario Kart World bundle, with both receiving strong promotion and launch demand.
Chris Cocks, Hasbro CEO, noted that pricing and accessibility may have contributed to Nightreign’s lead, as the game is multiplatform and sold for less than half the price of a new console bundle.
This price difference may have influenced purchasing decisions for players balancing hardware and software costs.
Other titles performing strongly in June included Death Stranding 2 in second place, while Stellar Blade climbed to fifth, and Cyberpunk 2077 re-entered the top 20 at eighteenth due to discounts and next-gen updates.
