Rapper Cardi B is facing a lawsuit for assault and battery stemming from a 2023 incident at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, where she allegedly threw a microphone at an audience member.

The lawsuit was filed by an anonymous woman, listed as Jane Doe, who claims she was injured during the performance.

According to legal documents, Cardi B had encouraged the crowd to throw water at her to help beat the intense summer heat. However, Jane Doe alleges that when she followed the request and splashed water in the rapper’s direction, Cardi reacted by hurling a microphone at her, causing physical and emotional harm.

The incident, which was captured in multiple videos and widely shared on social media, sparked police involvement at the time. Despite public scrutiny, Cardi B was not criminally charged. The microphone involved was later sold at auction for $99,000, with proceeds reportedly going to charity. Jane Doe’s attorney, Cierra N. Norris, claims this auction exacerbated her client's emotional distress.

Jane Doe is now suing Cardi B for assault, battery, negligence, and emotional damages. A press conference led by her legal team is scheduled for Thursday in Las Vegas.

Cardi B’s representatives have not issued a comment in response to the lawsuit.

This legal case reignites discussion over celebrity accountability and crowd safety during performances. As more details unfold, it remains to be seen how this civil suit will impact Cardi B’s public image and ongoing projects.
