Landlord kills watchman over minor dispute
A landlord shot dead an employee of his over a minor argument and attempted to portray the crime as a robbery.
The local police, utilising forensic techniques, solved the murder case within hours and arrested the suspect.
According to police officials, the victim, Waris, a labourer, worked as a night-time security guard for a low wage, guarding the solar panels installed at Muhammad Asif's farmland.
In the night, an altercation broke out between Waris and Asif, which led to Asif fatally shooting the victim.
In an attempt to avoid suspicion, Asif fabricated a story claiming Waris was killed during a robbery and even participated in the initial investigation to mislead the police.
The body was shifted for post-mortem before being handed over to the victim's family.
An investigative team, led by the SHO of Buchiana, used technical surveillance to unravel the truth.
Within a few hours, the police traced the murder back to Asif who had tried to misguide the investigation by staging a fake robbery scene.
Following the arrest, police registered a murder case against Asif and an unidentified accomplice on the complaint of the victim's widow, Nargis Bibi, and launched an investigation.
Locals described
Waris as a simple, hardworking man who supported his family through labour.
