Goddess of Victory: Nikke continues its high-profile promotions, this time bringing a large inflatable version of the character Dorothy to New York City as part of a summer campaign.
The display took place around the Hudson River, and a pop-up shop was opened to attract local fans with Nikke merchandise near some of the city’s well-known landmarks.
The campaign follows a pattern in Nikke’s advertising strategy. “They don’t really show what the game looks like,” notes the report, with Nikke’s public-facing events focusing on brand presence rather than gameplay footage. This approach continued during Dorothy’s visit to New York.
The mobile title, developed by ShiftUp, has maintained popularity partly due to its free-to-play model and low device requirements, making it accessible to a wide audience.
The game is described as an on-rails shooter similar to arcade classics, with a straightforward gameplay loop of clearing enemies on screen. However, fans note that much of the game’s attention has come from its character designs and animations rather than in-game action.
The report mentions, “They’d sooner send a literal satellite to space than show what the game looks like in general, public-facing advertising,” indicating the developer’s preference for promotional creativity over gameplay showcases.
Despite this, Nikke has achieved continued success, with fans engaging through concerts, merchandise, and large-scale displays like the recent New York event.
