Elon Musk has announced that xAI will introduce Baby Grok, a kid‑friendly version of the Grok chatbot designed to ensure safe and suitable content for children.

The announcement comes shortly after criticism of the original Grok included its support for 3D animated companions deemed overly sexualised.

Days ago, Musk launched Grok’s Companion feature, which drew concern for providing animated characters with mature elements. In response, Musk confirmed on X, “We’re going to make Baby Grok @xAI, an app dedicated to kid‑friendly content.”

Little else has been disclosed about Baby Grok, though it is expected to be a simplified adaptation of Grok’s powerful AI, but filtered for parents and educators seeking a secure experience.

Grok itself, launched in 2023, offers a range of modes—DeepSearch, Think, and Big Mind—and recently upgraded to Grok 4, which Musk describes as “better than PhD level” for academic queries.

Recently, Grok was removed for a while following a controversy involving antisemitic posts earlier this month.

xAI has not yet shared its release date nor clarified the differences in moderation between Grok and Baby Grok.
