Vertical parking facility to harbour over 200 cars and 250 bikes

Wahab said that this project will provide much-needed relief for visitors to Bolton Market and surrounding areas

KARACHI:

Mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated a vertical parking facility at Bolton Market, a project by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) aimed at easing the city's traffic woes.

Wahab highlighted that the parking facility, capable of accommodating over 200 cars and 250 motorcycles, was originally conceived in 1976 during Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's government. However, it faced decades of delays and litigation, finally opening 49 years later.

Wahab emphasised that this project will provide much-needed relief for visitors to Bolton Market and its surrounding areas. He also noted that the project has generated significant revenue previously tied up in legal disputes, and stated that 50 office spaces have also been created.

Further, Wahab announced several upcoming infrastructure projects, including the 100 MGD Hub Canal and Gutter Baghicha Treatment Plant next month, Karimabad Underpass on September 30, Korangi Causeway Bridge on November 15, and the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway on December 31.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad among other officials.
