CM okays mobile school, library projects

The school education department will also launch a 'library on wheels' project for children

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the initiation of 'school on wheels' and mobile library projects to promote education in remote areas of the province.

Issuing instructions in this regard to the authorities concerned, she said the schools on wheels would educate children in remote and difficult to access areas.

She said the school would be built in an electric rickshaw with solar panels installed on the roof. Teachers will conduct classes on folding chairs under canopies in the neighbourhoods. Book will also be provided to the students.

Approving the project in principle, the chief minister said the schools on wheels would also have painting material for the children along with educational toys.

The school education department will also launch a 'library on wheels' project for children. The libraries will go to various areas and provide opportunities for children to read books in addition to the curriculum. Each library will set up in a minivan decorated with cartoons, which will be stationed in open spaces.

The chief minister added, "A mobile library project will also be launched. Chairs and tables will be available for children in the mobile library set up in a modern bus.
