Evacuation ultimatum issued as rains loom

Instructions were issued for immediate mosque announcements to alert the public

JARANWALA:

In anticipation of heavy monsoon rains, the district administration has intensified precautionary measures and issued an ultimatum for the immediate evacuation of residents living in dilapidated structures and flood-prone areas.

The directive particularly targets occupants of unsafe buildings and residents along the Ravi belt in Tandlianwala, urging them to relocate to safer areas to avoid potential loss of life.

The action is part of a broader monsoon emergency plan being implemented under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd.) Nadeem Nasir.

A high-level meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Rana Musa reviewed the preparedness of relevant departments.

The session was attended by Assistant Commissioners of City, Sadar, Tandlianwala and officials from WASA, health, local government, municipal committees and other departments.

Addressing the meeting, ADC Rana Musa stated that ensuring the safety of citizens and their property remains the top priority.

He directed all departments to activate field teams and deploy necessary resources without delay.

Instructions were issued for immediate mosque announcements to alert the public, especially those in structurally weak homes, to relocate.

Citizens were also advised to clear rooftops of standing water to prevent structural damage or accidents.

Drainage and desilting operations have been prioritised in housing societies and urban centres.

WASA officials have been directed to remain active during rainfall, ensure machinery readiness, and respond promptly to complaints.
