Mega Crit has detailed a significant update for Slay the Spire 2, confirming that colourless cards will play a larger role by making some previously class-specific cards accessible to all players.

The change is part of the studio’s effort to refine the roguelike deckbuilder while preserving its core identity.

In a new developer blog, co-founder Anthony Giovannetti explained that Slay the Spire 2 will introduce new colourless cards while adjusting and reclassifying some existing ones.

One example is the card Scrawl, which previously belonged to the Watcher class. Players will now find Scrawl as a colourless card in the upcoming title, allowing any class to utilise its ability to draw cards until the hand is full.

Other teasers include Thrumming Hatchet, a card dealing consistent damage while returning to the player’s hand, and Rolling Boulder, a power card increasing its area damage over time.

Another addition, Automation, generates colourless energy after drawing a set number of cards, offering new synergy opportunities within decks.

The developers also shared a glimpse of a new Necrobinder skill card, hinting at further expansions in the game’s mechanics and worldbuilding.

Fellow co-founder Casey Yano confirmed that Slay the Spire 2 will feature enhanced lore elements, continuing Mega Crit’s focus on creating a rich narrative experience alongside gameplay.

Slay the Spire 2 remains one of the most anticipated roguelike deckbuilders, following the success of its predecessor.
