Rangers personnel suspended for insulting KU professor

Sector Commander took immediate notice of the incident and issued orders for strict departmental action

The Rangers personnel who humiliated Professor Dr Afaq Ahmed Siddiqui of the University of Karachi (KU) has been suspended.

Sector Commander took immediate notice of the incident and issued orders for strict departmental action.

The Executive Council of KUTS held a meeting at the Staff Club to discuss in detail the recent unfortunate incident of misbehaving and slapping Professor Dr Afaq Ahmed Siddiqui by the Rangers personnel.

Dr Afaq Siddiqui informed the meeting that immediately after the incident, KUTS President Dr Mohsin Ali and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi contacted him and assured their full support. The following morning, senior Rangers officials met Dr Afaq. KUTS President, and Secretary Dr Maroof bin Rauf and Dr Nida Ali were also present. Rangers officers strongly condemned the incident, apologised to Dr Afaq, and assured a full investigation.

Later, Vice Chancellor and KUTS President visited Dr Afaq at his home to show their solidarity.

According to KUTS Joint Secretary Dr Muhammad Faisal Awan, Dr Afaq Siddiqui thanked the university's faculty, students, staff, and all responsible officials for their support and expressed full confidence in the action taken by the higher authorities.

The meeting was attended by KUTS President Dr Mohsin Ali, Joint Secretary Dr Muhammad Faisal Awan, Dr Nida Ali, Mr Ghufran Alam, Dr Muiz, Professor Basit Ansari, Professor Intikhab Ulfat, Professor Uzma Ashiq, Dr Asad Tanoli, Dr Zeeshan Iqbal, Dr Zeeshan Abbas, Dr Asif Raza Khan, Dr Waqar, and Dr Kamran.
