In a podcast episode released July 17, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama addressed recent rumors about their marriage, using both humor and heartfelt reflection.

Michelle Obama, 61, introduced Barack, 63, by calling him “my man” on her “IMO” podcast with brother Craig Robinson.

Barack quipped in response, “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while!” Michelle laughed off speculation by noting that people often assume they’re divorced when she’s not present at public events with him.

They traced the rumors back to Michelle skipping high-profile events earlier this year such as Donald Trump’s second inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral explaining her absences were due to personal priorities, not marital discord.

Michelle emphasized she has never once “thought about quitting on my man,” reflecting on how their marriage has weathered both challenges and triumphs and has made her a better person for it.

Barack admitted he often hears about the rumors secondhand: “I don’t even know this stuff’s going on…then somebody will mention it to me and I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’”

The couple married in 1992 and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

Their candid discussion, blending lighthearted banter with affirmations of commitment, appears to put the divorce chatter to rest, reinforcing the strength of their longstanding partnership.
