Actor Jeremy Renner has spoken out about serious allegations made by his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco, during their lengthy custody battle. In an interview with The Guardian published Saturday, Renner reflected on the emotional toll of the claims, stating, “Being accused of things you’ve not done, right? That doesn’t feel good to anybody.”

He added that the public nature of the allegations made the experience worse. “It certainly doesn’t feel good when you’re a celebrity and it’s known to everybody,” he said. “It’s all the salaciousness that happens out there. It’s clickbait, and it hurts my feelings and it dehumanizes people.”

During the custody dispute in 2019, Pacheco accused the Avengers star of trying to kill her and of firing a gun inside their home while their daughter, Ava, was in her room.

Though the pair married and divorced in 2014, their custody battle extended over several years, eventually culminating in the public 2019 filings. At the time, Renner’s legal team called the accusations “one-sided” and emphasized his focus on Ava’s well-being.

“This is a matter for the court to decide,” his team said in a statement. “It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”

Pacheco also claimed that Renner rarely spent time with their daughter and allegedly threatened to release “intimate videos” of the actor. In response, Renner accused Pacheco of negligence, citing an incident in which she allegedly left then-two-year-old Ava unsupervised for about fifteen minutes.

Renner’s recent reflections highlight the emotional and reputational impact that such public allegations can have—even years after the legal proceedings have ended.
