Over 50 children hospitalised after eating toxic cake

Most of the children were rushed to the Children's Ward of Shahdadpur's SMS Hospital in critical condition

SHAHDADPUR:

More than 50 children fell ill after consuming toxic cake in the village of Ghulam Muhammad Laghari, located near Shahdadpur. The affected children, aged between three and 10 years, include Mohsin, Hasan, Huzaifa, Nageen, Sonia, Suhail Laghari, Mushahid Abbas, Yaseen, Falak Laghari, and Bilal.

According to local residents, the incident occurred on Monday evening when a street vendor arrived in the village selling cakes. Children purchased and ate the cakes, after which many began experiencing severe health issues.

Most of the children were rushed to the Children's Ward of Shahdadpur's SMS Hospital in critical condition, while others were treated at various hospitals in Hala. Doctors reported symptoms such as food poisoning, vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration.

Hospital sources have confirmed that all children are now in stable condition. Meanwhile, the local administration has launched an investigation to identify those responsible for selling the toxic cakes.
