The Television Academy has just unveiled the nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, in an announcement hosted by Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén. Leading the charge is Apple TV+’s cerebral workplace thriller Severance, which earned 27 nominations - the most of any show this year.
Hot on its heels is HBO’s The Penguin, a dark and stylish Batman spinoff that secured 24 nods. Colin Farrell’s transformative performance and the show's gritty tone resonated strongly with voters.
Tied in third place are Apple TV+’s industry satire The Studio and HBO’s acclaimed The White Lotus, both landing 23 nominations. The Studio, a sharp comedy set in the high-stakes world of prestige television, made an impressive Emmy debut. Meanwhile, The White Lotus continued its awards streak with a third season filled with mystery, luxury, and biting social commentary.
HBO's The Last of Us followed with a solid 16 nominations for its emotionally charged second season, including acting and technical categories. The show’s post-apocalyptic storytelling and character depth have made it a consistent awards contender.
On the broadcast side, SNL50: The Anniversary Special led the way with 12 nominations. NBC’s Saturday Night Live received seven, while ABC’s Abbott Elementary, The Amazing Race, and the 2025 Oscars broadcast each earned six nods.
The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday, September 14, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host.
The Creative Arts Emmys will be held the weekend before, on September 6 and 7, and will air on FXX on September 13.
