KARACHI:

Former Deputy Commissioner West, Fayaz Alam Solangi, who had accused an influential politician from a ruling political party of illegally occupying government land, has now been removed from another post as well.

In 2020, while serving as Deputy Commissioner West, Solangi leveled accusations against said politician, regarding illegally grabbing government land in District West, following which he was removed from his post as a Grade 18 officer. Most recently, Solangi was serving as Additional Secretary Coordination (Grade 19) in the Services and General Administration Department. On July 10, the Sindh government dismissed him from this post too.

Notably, on July 8, just two days before being removed, Solangi published an advertisement in various local newspapers, in different languages, in which he issued a 'public apology' to the politician, and stated that the land-grabbing allegations he had made could not be proven.

Reportedly, Solangi had also personally apologised to the politician and instructed his staff to issue a clarification, however it could not be published in time; shortly thereafter, he was transferred from his position as deputy commissioner.
