The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Elmo was compromised on Sunday resulting in a string of offensive posts, including antisemitic messages and accusations against US President Donald Trump. The posts remained live for approximately one hour before being removed.

In one of the six posts, the hacker used Elmo’s trademark third-person voice to issue violent threats targeting Jewish people. Another post referred to Donald Trump as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “puppet,” citing claims about the Epstein files.

One message directly tagged Trump’s X account and read: “RELEASE THE FILES @realDonaldTrump CHILD F---ER,” referencing the alleged client list connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The posts surfaced days after Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a memo on stating the Epstein-related documents did not include a verifiable client list and warranted no further investigation. The memo contradicted Trump’s earlier statements promising to release the documents.

Trump responded in a Cabinet meeting, saying, “I can’t believe you’re asking questions about Epstein at a time like this,” referring to unrelated national events. His remarks sparked criticism from allies, including Roseanne Barr and podcaster Andrew Schulz, who accused Trump of avoiding transparency.

Following the removal of the offensive content, Elmo’s account resumed normal activity. The most recent post, unrelated to the hack, showed Elmo celebrating a “Gotcha Day” with his pet dog Tango.

An investigation into the account breach has not yet been confirmed by the platform.
