Residents of Dadabhoy building in Punjab Colony staged a six-hour protest at Punjab Chowrangi against ongoing electricity outages on Saturday.
Protesters said the building, which houses 80 flats, had been without power since 11am on Friday. They claimed that despite multiple complaints, KE did not respond. Residents blamed KE's crackdown on illegal connections in Punjab and PNT colonies for the disconnection, alleging that a dispute during the operation in PNT Colony led to a fight, after which KE cut power to Dadabhoy building as a form of collective punishment.
They further alleged that KE refused to restore electricity until those involved in the altercation apologised, a condition they deemed unjust, arguing that the entire building was being penalised for the actions of a few. The protest ended after power was restored.
