Authorities foil attempt to attack a police station in Lakki

DI KHAN:

The security forces on Saturday neutralized two terrorists including a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander during an intelligence based operation (IBO) in district Tank of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). The TTP operative has been identified as Commander Hanzala.

During the IBO, the forces also rounded up an injured terrorist, who revealed vital details about the terror network operating in Tank—its hideouts and operatives—leading to a search operation. The authorities have beefed up security in the district and established pickets at the entry and exit points of the district.

Separately, authorities foiled a terrorist attempt to attack a police station at Gambella area of district Lakki. Around 10-12 terrorists had taken position in an area surrounding the Gambella Police Station in the wee hours of Saturday. However, due to the police's swift response, the terrorist had to flee.

However, terrorists managed to detonate a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) in the Sorbat Nalai area of Khar tehsil of district Bajuar. One resident of the area, Subhan Ullah son of Fazl Subhan, sustained minor injuries as a result of the explosion.

The injured person was immediately taken to District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Authorities later cordoned off the explosion site and commenced investigation.

Meanwhile, Rakhmeen Khan, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), who had got injured in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan earlier this month succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Rakhmeen had been critically wounded in an attack in the jurisdiction of Tullay Khula Police Station, Lower South Waziristan on July 4 and had been under treatment at Mission Hospital Peshawar.

His funeral prayer was offered with full state honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
