Reinforcement of embankment ordered

Irrigation department officials have said that some low-lying areas in the riverine region of Mianwali district were submerged by recent monsoon rains, but the main population centres remained safe.

They were briefing Sargodha Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan and Mianwali Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya during their visit to flood-affected katcha areas on Saturday to review the ongoing relief efforts.

The commissioner toured low-lying areas of Isa Khel tehsil and Mianwali, including Katcha Tari Khel, the area adjacent to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route in Katcha Kammar Mushani and Cheena Pora.

He ordered immediate reinforcement of the protective embankment in Tari Khel and the supply of medicines and vaccines at the relief camps.
