Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced that Verity, its adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s psychological thriller, will release in theaters on May 15, 2026.
The film stars Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford, a bestselling author who becomes incapacitated following a mysterious accident.
Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer brought in to complete Verity’s work, only to uncover a hidden manuscript filled with disturbing revelations.
Directed by Michael Showalter, the film also features Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Irina Dvorovenko, K.K. Moggie, and Michael Abbott Jr.
The screenplay is by Nick Antosca, with production led by Showalter, Hathaway, and Hoover herself.
Filming wrapped earlier this year in New York. Verity is the latest in a wave of Hoover adaptations, following It Ends With Us and several additional titles in development.
By setting a May 2026 date, Amazon MGM is positioning Verity for a spring launch that capitalizes on both the thriller genre’s audience and Hoover’s expansive fanbase.
The project reunites Hathaway and Showalter, who previously collaborated on The Idea of You.
As anticipation builds, the release marks a high-profile literary adaptation for Amazon’s growing theatrical slate.
