Two arrested for murdering student abducted for ransom

Police have arrested two men suspected of kidnapping a third-year students for ransom and murdering him.

Officials said the suspects, Umar and Bilal, had kidnapped Muhammad Ahad, a 22-year-old student from the Mananwala area, by luring him to Akbar Chowk for eating shawarma four days ago. They held him captive in Umar's house and demanded ransom.

The suspects held the victim's arms and stabbed him in the head with scissors, killing him when the ransom amount was not paid, the investigators said. The suspects then tied the body with ropes, wrapped it in a cloth, and dumped it in bushes near a warehouse in the jurisdiction of Mananwala police station.

Citizens informed the police about the body. CCTV footage of the kidnapping had also surfaced.

After the body was found, the victim's family protested by blocking the Sheikhupura Road.

Faisalabad CCPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar suspended the SHO and appointed Sub-Inspector Moazam Gujjar to replace him. The news SHO arrested both suspects within two hours with the help of CCTV footage.

According to police, the suspects had killed the victim after refusal to pay ransom. However, the police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
