Restaurants offering late-night dining to face action

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Karim has ordered strict action against restaurants offering dining services after midnight.

Justice Karim was hearing petitions about curbing smog, pollution and groundwater wastage.

The Judicial Water and Environment Commission's member told the court that trees would be planted in 700 colleges. No tree will be cut without the permission of the court.

Justice Karim asked about the inauguration of a smog emission analyser machine, upon which a law officer told the court that it had been delayed for some reasons.

Justice Karim also ordered the imposition of heavy fines on the owner of a brick kiln near Hiran Minar.

The court ordered that the owners in Sheikhupura be told that their brick kilns would be demolished if they committed any violation.

The judge adjourned the hearing till July 28.
