PTI leaders' bail pleas dismissed

An anti-terrorism court has dismissed bail petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Umar Sarfraz Cheema and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed in a case related to the May 9, 2023, riots.

The petitioners had contended that the police had registered a false case against them and they had nothing to do with the charges levelled against them.

The prosecution strongly opposed the bail pleas, contending that the accused had been found guilty in investigation and substantial evidence was available to establish their nexus with the charges. It requested the court to dismiss the bail pleas.
