Hailee Steinfeld will join Miles Teller in Winter Games, a romantic comedy from Paramount Pictures set against the backdrop of the Winter Olympics.
The film is directed by Paul Downs Colaizzo, who co-wrote the script with Patrick Cunnane. Colaizzo is best known for helming Brittany Runs a Marathon.
The film follows the lives of two Olympic athletes—a consistently overlooked skier and a self-sabotaging hockey legend—whose worlds collide at their personal breaking points.
According to Paramount, their unexpected relationship threatens her medal ambitions and his final shot at redemption, all while romance unfolds inside the high-pressure Olympic Village.
Tim and Trevor White are producing for Star Thrower Entertainment, alongside Teller.
Steinfeld’s casting marks another high-profile role in a busy year.
In April, she appeared opposite Michael B. Jordan in Sinners, Ryan Coogler’s supernatural horror film, which grossed over $278 million domestically and generated awards buzz. Weeks later, she married Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Production details for Winter Games are expected to be announced soon as Paramount ramps up development on the feature.
