KARACHI:

A citizen has filed a petition in a lower court requesting the registration of a case regarding the death of model and actress Humaira Asghar Ali. The petition alleges that Humaira's death was not natural, but rather the result of murder.

The petitioner, Shahzeb Sohail, argues that police have deemed the incident suspicious and that the public is concerned about the case. The petition points out that Humaira Asghar Ali was a prominent public figure, and a video related to the incident suggests she may have been murdered. It also notes that Humaira's family had reportedly severed ties with her, further raising suspicions.

The petitioner has asked the court to direct a thorough investigation into the matter, including a probe into the possible involvement of Humaira's family. SSP South and the SHO of Gizri Police Station have been named as respondents in the case.

Meanwhile, Humaira's family has agreed to receive her body. According to SSP South Mehzor Ali, the actress's brother-in-law contacted Gizri Police Station and confirmed that he would arrive in Karachi with her biological brother to complete legal formalities. Police had earlier informed the family that the body could only be released to a direct blood relative.

Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing. It may be recalled that the decomposed body of the actress was discovered in her flat approximately a month ago, prompting widespread concern and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
