Neo-apartheid
Ethnic cleansing takes a new turn as the uprooted residents of Gaza are being sent into concentration camps. The decision to move them south of their besieged and devastated enclave is an extension of an unending genocide policy that Israel and the US are indulging in with impunity. Still Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has the audacity to call it a "humanitarian city", shamelessly in cahoots with US President Donald Trump who mooted this initiative of neo-apartheid to appease its allied ally. This goes on unchecked primarily because there is no resistance whatsoever from the Muslim world, and the civilised west too is apparently in a slumber of its own.
This deportation of an entire nation must come to awaken world conscience. The Palestinians have had enough of it from the Jewish state, and it is a pity that international organisations, especially the UN, are nowhere to be seen. This lethargic attitude has emboldened Washington to even crack down indiscriminately on aid agencies, and all those who believe in providing succor to a dying community.
The imposing of sanctions on Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, is a case in point and goes on to establish that Israeli supremacy is dearer to the US than values of human life.
The shunting out of more than 600,000 Palestinians in the first phase towards the ruined Rafah city will bring in more misery, and stir geopolitical unrest. The logic of Tel Aviv that it wants to segregate the populace from Hamas influence is a cruel joke, as it itself enters into so-called peace talks with the militia.
Perhaps, Israel thinks it can hoodwink world public opinion for a long time. This is a travesty of justice and fair play. Displacing more than two million people after maiming them is a crime against humanity, and Israel must undergo retribution. It seems the Zionists themselves are repeating an offence of which they were a victim in history. Two wrongs do not make a right.
